Historias de hadas para adultos

Genre novella Last Edition Minotauro (SPAIN, 2007) ISBN 978-0979-50420-4
Historias de hadas para adultos (Fairy Tales for Adults), three novellas that combine science fiction and fantasy, transports us to a literary universe filled with Arthurian legends, classical mythology, fairy tales, and Biblical stories. Themes from earliest childhood are viewed through a unique lens, forcing us to consider them from an adult perspective.

In "La Granja" (The Farm), a journalist gets lost on a stormy night and ends up at a house that is occupied by a strange family. Every night the family enters a mysterious barn where extraordinary things seem to happen. In this story, the Cuban countryside serves as background for Anglo-Saxon myths.

"La Dama del Ciervo" (The Lady of the Deer) tells of a mythical battle between the forces of Good and Evil. The surprise ending demands a completely different reading from what one originally expects.

"Un Hada en el Umbral de la Tierra" (A Fairy on the Threshold of Earth) explores the contrasts between the child's mind and the adult's. The plot examines the dangers of miscommunication, resulting in a tale where terror and hope come together in an explosive finale.

Written during Chaviano's adolescence and originally published in Cuba, this book immediately became one of the best-sellers on that Caribbean island. In 2007, Minotauro re-issued the first Spanish edition for the rest of the world.
